Systems Engineering and Automation (ISA - Ingeniería de Sistemas y Automática) is one of the Teaching Areas of the Computer Engineering Department of the University of Alcalá (UAH). ISA devotes its teaching efforts to control systems, both classical theory and intelligent systems, automation, computer vision, computer programming and management, among other topics. Teaching and research labs are available for our students and researchers equipped with up-to-date software and hardware devices for control systems, computer vision, automation and robotics. Cutting edge sensors for 3D scanning complete the pool of tools for advance research in this field. The application domains of these technologies are Intelligent Transportation Systems, Intelligent Vehicles and Smart Cities. Among our priorities is the development of advanced perception and navigation systems for last generation driverless vehicles in urban environments, a task in which only those who are able to mimic human behaviour will succeed. Other topics of interest for ISA are the development of intelligent systems for improving urban mobility and for contributing to the development of smart cities. Our history of collaborations with public and private institutions supports our work in these lines.
DRIVERTIVE is a driverless cooperative vehicle developed at the University of Alcalá intended for autonomous operation on urban areas and highways. The DRIVERTIVE team is participating in the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge, GCDC 2016, in the Netherlands.
